A Connecticut Yankee

Bernanners and other things

“Good manners”, a voice rings

Characteristics of the region I love

The summer’s quite hot

We’ve been ridiculed a lot

Southern, by grace from above

I have a bunch of friends

Brought here by warmer winds

We can all guess where they came from

They still have that mouth

But remain in the south

Not one of them is in any way a bum

The best one’s named Tim

And I do admire him

When he got here

He could not, understand a word

He didn’t quit and go back

As a matter of fact

For Timmy, giving up is absurd

Now he’s from Connecticut

And absolutely a nut

He pokes fun at the way that I talk

He could never replaced

Or his memory erased

But with his looks, he’s got no room to squawk
