It Isn't Too Early

The sky is so blue
It gives me a tear
Not from any sadness
But from good cheer
Visions of toys
And good things to eat
The holidays are here
Isn't that neat

A new game for Johnny
A telephone for Sue
What you give to your kids
That's up to you
You can be a hero
Or look like a jerk
Don't end up a zero
Do your homework

This time of year
You should ease drop a bit
When you get enough info.
It's time to quit
If you pay attention
To every conversation
You can give the right gift
And feel pure elation
Or give the wrong gift
And feel pure frustration

Now, I have two kids
And have made some mistakes
This year I'm willing
To do whatever it takes
When they think I'm sleeping
On the couch after dinner
I'm just playing opossum
And picking a winner

Thanks and good luck,
Randy McArthur
